Mauka Theater Events

Mauka Theater & Campus Cinema Screenings

The Mauka Theater was built and launched to promote and champion the creative community on the UofN/ YWAM Kona Campus, and to serve the campus as a whole by hosting the celebration, exploration and enrichment to be experienced in media and the arts for everyone.  Across from the Natural Farm and just below the sand volleyball court, the Mauka Theater seats 90 people in stadium-style seating with air conditioning.  It has state of the art 7.2 THX Surround Sound and 1080p High Definition projection.

Media Advocacy Night

Description: film/media screening with discussion on Social Justice and Advocacy topics
(A part of the Voice for the Voiceless DTS – open to Surge participants for auditing)

 

The Culture Shaping Cinema Seminar

Description: screenings and discussions that analyze the way popular movies are shaping culture
(Official Seminar of the University of the Nations, hosted by The Film Institute – open to Surge participants for auditing)

*Periodically upper level transmedia & film related courses will open up class sessions at the Mauka Theater to the UofN/YWAM Kona community to those who wish to audit individual sessions.

 

*Updated information and schedules will be posted on the private Surge Accepted Participants Facebook group and also available as a printed newsletter at the Go Center Surge Reception Desk throughout the summer.  Sign-ups for all Activities will be available at the Reception Desk.
